Marinated and Deep-Fried Mackerel - Tatsuta-age Saba
Mackerel marinated with soy sauce, garlic and ginger, and deep-fried to a golden crisp! It's suitable for packed lunches, too.
- Mackerel (3 (about 6 slices))
- ☆ Ginger (to taste)
- ☆ Garlic powder (1 tsp)
- ☆ Soy sauce (2 tbsp)
- ☆ Sake (1 tbsp)
- Potato starch (to taste)
- Vegetable oil (to taste)
Gut, clean, and fillet the fish into 3 slices and cut into 3 pieces (adjust pieces to the size of the fish).
Mix all ☆ ingredients.
Put the chopped mackerel into a plastic bag, and gently rub the mixed ingredients from step 2. Chill in the fridge for atleast 30 minutes to half a day.
Coat each fish with potato starch and fry both sides under medium low heat (※). Remove excess oil with kitchen paper and it's done!
